Rinzai Zen Meditation

Shinjinkan Dojo's Zen Practice Group is led by Tabor Sensei, who first trained under Rev. Kogen Ryutoku (Nagel), then with So'zan Miller Roshi of Daiyuzenji Temple in Chicago, and currently trains under Meido Moore Roshi of Korinji Monastery in Wisconsin.

We support both training centers, and are recognized as members of Rinzai Zen International. Our practice emphasizes the foundational elements of Rinzai Zen training, including proper zazen posture, breathing methods, chanting, and hara development. Instruction is available for beginners, and no prior meditation experience is required.

Practice Schedule

• Tuesdays: 9:15pm – 9:45pm (Zazen)
• Fridays: 7:15pm – 7:45pm (Zazen)
• Sundays: 9:00am – 10:30am (Zazen, chanting, and hara training)

Participants should wear comfortable, modest clothing suitable for sitting meditation. Please arrive a few minutes early, especially if attending for the first time.  The monthly suggested donation is $25.

The group is intended as an opportunity to establish and maintain a regular Zen practice in a supportive environment. While instruction is offered, this is not a formal residential training program.

Individuals seeking more intensive Rinzai Zen training are encouraged to contact Daiyuzenji Temple in the Chicago area or Korinji Monastery
